One of Andrew's friends, Kenny, is tackling a cross-country bicycle ride to help raise awareness about the importance of leading a healthy lifestyle. Kenny started his ride in on July 24th at Hermosa Pier, CA and will be pedaling all the way to Washington, DC! You can follow Kenny's experience by "Liking" him on Facebook or donating to Kenny Do It -- a 501(c)3 non-profit.
Something Corporate just added another date to their 2010 Summer tour, and if you live in the San Diego area, you are in luck. The guys will now be playing at Soma on August 26th. Pre-sale tickets are available now, and the public on-sale will begin on July 17th at 10AM.
Sometimes I wonder how my wife reconciles loving this wandering mess that is me. The unspoken fear of so many artists is the discovery of true love. Not the kind of love that burns hard and fast, but the kind that smolders with no end and wouldn't let you go if you tried. I can't speak for all writers, but I know I speak for many when I say that it is a secret fear amongst us that with this smoldering comes the death of an atomic dream. New love is easy art. In the stirring of discovery poetry grows from seed to sunlight in short blistering days.

Dear Jack Foundation and 11:11A.M. will be teaming up this summer on the 2010 Vans Warped Tour. As a part of the non-profit/Take Action area of Warped Tour, the two charitable organizations will unite under one tent to raise awareness for cancer research. Warped Tour attendees will find new merchandise from each organization, literature on how and where to volunteer locally, daily raffles and a special opportunity to share their personal stories on how cancer has affected their lives. Dear Jack, the documentary that chronicles Andrew McMahon’s heroic battle with cancer, will also be available for sale.

As some of you may know from reading the earlier posts, our good friend Dan Duggins, former Hot Rod Circuit drummer, recently suffered a stroke. Dan has been a dear friend to everyone in Jack's Mannequin as well as many of the bands we've played with over the years. Like many musicians, Dan was unable to afford health insurance, and as you can imagine the cost of his care and recovery will be a significant burden to him and his family. In response to this need, the band and I have decided to do a benifit concert for Dan in Richmond, VA this June.
As we're sure most of you know, Andrew used to be a part of a little band called Something Corporate. That band has recently reunited to play all three Bamboozle Festivals, and they are also preparing to release a greatest hits album, Played in Space : The Best of Something Corporate, on April 27th.
You can pre-order the album on the band's online store, iTunes, or on Amazon.
