Hammers and Strings tour highlights 2008
I have only seen Jack's Mannequin in concert once during the Hammers and Strings tour 2008 but I am convinced it will go down as one of my favorite shows of my entire life. The music I was a part of that night is what moves me to make such a bold statement but there were alot of other events that made the trip so memorable. Some interesting things about my trip were:
* Paying an online scalper $133 for a ticket that cost $30. Honestly, the best money I ever spent.
* Driving 457km from Winnipeg, MB, Canada to see a show in Minneapolis, MN.
* Enduring a snow storm of epic proportions even by Canadian standards to arrive on time in only 7 hrs
* Watching my friend Kyla get a large Jack's Mannequin tattoo on the small of her back the morning of the show
* Arriving at 7pm for a show that started at 5pm and almost missing the start of Jack's set. I had never heard of a concert starting so early so I was convinced 5pm was when the doors opened.
* Getting to hear a six song encore including two Something Corporate songs; Me and the Moon and Cavanaugh Park
That list reads like a badge of honour to me and reminds me how much I love music and the band Jack's Mannequin. Up to that point I had never travelled anywhere to see a band play but after the experience I had it will definitely happen again.

This sounds exactly like my third Jack's Mannequin show.. Drove four hours in a huge snow storm, stood outside for two hours in the 4 degree weather so we could get in the fourth row, thought I was going to die from hypothermia or something, then had to wait another hour after the show to meet Andrew because the security guards were being a pain.. But it was hands down one of the greatest nights ever :D And the Something Corporate covers always make me so happy.. At the West Coast Winter Tour he played Punk Rock Princess and She Paints Me Blue and it was pretty much perfection.
That venue the Troubador sounds familiar but I have no clue where it is. What city or state is it located in? Sounds like it was a wicked show. You were so lucky to see that.
I've seen Andrew do 6+ song encores before! It's so awesome. I think he did a couple of covers & a bunch of Something Corporate songs at the Troubador.
