Beer on the street chicken on the stick
Beer on the street chicken on the stick
The last time I was in jacksonville I ended up at a house party where 2 fights broke out, a guy got stabbed and the king of the whole scene was paying people 20 dollars a piece to experiment on them with a tazzer gun. I know, crazy! And this was before the recession. The city of jacksonville, of course, cannot be blamed for such depravity, but there is a certain underpinning of lawlessness there that is palpable. No doubt, these days I'm favoring a more relaxed state, but the late night, freak show that is Jacksonville beach demanded attention last night and I was in no position to deny it. There is something about beach towns where homeless gather and cops have bigger fish to fry that makes my blood boil. For the record I like my blood boiling. I know these aren't things people should like, but as I watched the drunks spill into the street last night seeking refuge at the late night chicken on a stick window I couldn't help feeling like everything was in its right place. The night ended without incident and that was fine by me. I rode it out on a corner with my camera and my friends and for once remembered what it was like to observe the world rather than be absorbed by it. At least no one got tazzed. -A

Hi Andrew- I hope you are well, and the tour is going smoothly!
You haven't blogged in a while, so I don't know if you will see this; but this is Rachael and James- We were at the Kansas City show this Jan 20th..we sent you the letter and were holding the sign in the front row... "be patient I am getting to the point" ;) Thank you for playing the song you did ...It absolutely made our night. It could not have been more perfect...it brings tears to my eyes every time I think about it. To have your music involved in our lives in that special way means more to us than you could ever possibly know. Your music has always been there for us when we need it; it pulls us through tough times...it's there for us to celebrate to...it motivates us as music teachers to spread passion for music to our students... We were will always hold that moment in Kansas City very dear to our hearts. Andrew, you are our hero. We flew from Dallas to KC praying things would turn out the way they did at the concert that night. It still seems so surreal that it did... Again, we cannot thank you enough...
See you next time you come to Texas!
Your biggest fans,
James and Rachael
This is a nice topic.I have enough time to read it and it is a good article.
Next time you're in Jax, you can come to a house party with a bunch of crazy navy pilots. That's where the REAL Jax Magic Happens!
andrew i have a burning question! gseav
I'm glad I got to be one of those drunk people that you observed on the streets, I know when I saw you with your camera and friends, I was blasted. Haha. But thank you for taking a picture with me and my sister despite our drunken stooper and talking about William Tell's ass, it made our night! (Along with the super amazing concert.) -Kerri :)
I like the overtones of humor with the undertones of danger, very nice.
and I completely agree with T.McHugh9. as an upstate New Yorker who also went to the show at the Chance, Poughkeepsie sounds good to me =)
So Andrew, I live in Poughkeepsie, NY, and I have loved every time you've come to The Chance. Last time you were here however, I didn't have the pleasure of seeing you. It'd be pretty sweet if you came around again to play more songs off of your new album (which is great), and maybe you would consider coming to a local coffee shop to do an acoustic set. It's a comfortable little place not to far from The Chance in Poughkeepsie. I think you would find mixing in with the locals well worth your time. I've been following your music since the early days of Something Corporate and can't believe how far it's come. Your writing inspired me to do the same, and it's been amazing listening to everything you put out through the years. Me and my girlfriend had your music through a lot of times, and sometimes there were some eerie coincidences in the lyrics and our time together. Just had the desire to sign up today to your website to let you know this, and hopefully convince you to come back to Poughkeepsie to play for some damn sure adoring fans.
Thanks for everything,
TJ
