meditations from the road home

I am not the type of person who wears sunglasses inside, but I would like to be. I dabble in this art from when traveling by plane. I am not certain why I have chosen sky machines and airports as my exception to this unspoken rule, but I will say, unlike most people, I always look forward to flying.

I leave you with a quote from Mr. Bukowski's "portions from a wine-stained notebook"

Why do you write?

"I write as a function. Without it I would fall ill and die. It's as much a part of one as the liver or intestine, and just about as glamorous."

Comments

Writing eh.

"I write as a function. Without it I would fall ill and die. It's as much a part of one as the liver or intestine, and just about as glamorous."

There are indeed many people who's writing is already part of their lives just like breathing. To write is to bring peace to our mind and heart which are craving for expression. Either we talk or we write. I'll prefer writing and singing :)

Truly,

Memories Like Bullets, They Fire At Me From A Gun.

Andy,
I met you at Soundwave in Sydney this year. Although we didn't get to talk for long, it really made me realise why I've come all this way through depression, self harm, ocd and anxiety, and why I haven't given up. When you're staring death in the face, deciding whether or not to take the final step to the point of no return, it takes a lot to snap out of it. For me, it was when my phone rang. My ringtone is "Swim".
The line that saved me was
"You've gotta swim, don't let yourself sink. Just find the horizon, I promise you, it's not as far as you think."

You sung it with such passion, and I believed you.
I wanted to tell you when I met you, but I was struggling to hold back tears as I was trying to find the words to say it, especially when the incident happened not even a week before I met you.

If you read this, please email me. I don't expect an essay like what I've written, just something to tell me you know.

Thankyou Andy.

I look forward to flying too! Most people hate it. It gives me a chance to sit back relax and listen to my favorite music, including Jack's Mannequin of course. [ :

Your the greatest Andrew, your music makes life easier.

That is such a great quote -- it reminds me of another one: "I write for the same reason I breathe: because if I didn't, I would die". I don't know the author (or if the author is known), but I love the quote. Writing is such a quintessential part of my being.

Thanks for the new blog, Andrew; it's always so great to hear/read your words. :)
